A Port Huron motel is the subject of legal proceedings claiming the owner is operating the property as a public nuisance. Yesterday afternoon, the city attorney’s office named the owners of the Days Inn motel on Pine Grove Avenue in legal proceedings filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court. Public nuisance laws, under state statute, permits municipalities to ban the use of a property and close the facility for up to one year. The city cites numerous drug incidents as well as fire code violations in the complaint. The owner of the property has three weeks to respond to the public nuisance complaint.
