Good news for the Port Huron Area School District. The Michigan Department of Education have removed several schools from their “Priority Status” including Holland Woods Middle. Port Huron School District Superintendent Jamie Cain says various tests saw low scores causing the designation as priority back in 2012. Holland Woods was one of 30-schools in the state to be bumped up above priority status. Cain says Holland Woods will continue to work on a school improvement plan that will be submitted to the state. Central Middle had been removed from the list last year leaving Woodrow Wilson as the remaining building still under the state’s priority list. Cain believes the district will build on the positive momentum created by the change while also making continued gains elsewhere in the district.
