It was politics, politics, politics Tuesday night at a semi-annual meeting of the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County. The three announced candidates for the 10th District Congressional seat were part of a forum hosted by the EDA at the dinner in Marysville at Alexander’s. The candidates set for the August ballot thus far are Alan Sanborn, Paul Mitchell, and Phil Pavlov. Moderator Bill Kauffman noted that Pavlov, Sanborn, and Mitchell provided an educational discussion on their views. Pavlov is a current state senator, Sanborn a former state senator, and Paul Mitchell known for having being with Ross Education and more recently having led a campaign against the road tax last year. The meeting also saw an update from the EDA’s Dan Casey who believes the economy will keep rolling this year. Casey noted that the hiring increases of the past few years have leveled off but investments have not, with commercial interests booming in some areas, especially in downtown’s where various rehabilitation projects are underway. He says to look for residential increases in the next two years. The session was held at Alexander’s in Marysville.
