Motorists paying in Canadian currency at the Blue Water Bridge may find the toll being adjusted in April, if a policy change by the Michigan Department of Transportation is approved. Before changes are made though, M-DOT will be hosting 3 public hearings on the matter next week, one being held locally in Port Huron on March 10th from 3-5pm at the Municipal Office Building. M-DOT Spokeswoman Jocelyn Hall tells us the changes being proposed will allow them to adjust the rate that is paid in Canadian currency. The policy allows M-DOT twice a year to evaluate the daily exchange rate over the previous 6 months, then set that amount based on that rate so they can make it even for the next 6 months. Hall says every other U.S./Canadian crossing in Michigan has this type of exchange policy except for the Blue Water Bridge. Information about the proposed toll changes is available at the Blue Water Bridge Administration Office, or online at: michigan.gov/bluewaterbridge.
