Relatively short meeting for the Port Huron School Board Monday night. The board approved extending the contract of Superintendent Jamie Cain, who has been serving as superintendent the past few years. Board President Jeff Stout talked with our Nick Paton about the boards decision and says they feel he’s doing an excellent job and they are very happy with the direction the district is going. Several staff were also recognized by the board, including Robert Phipps, custodian at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, who has worked in the district for 18 years. Cain says that students always look forward to seeing “Mr. BOB” as he’s known around the school. Athletic Field Manager Brian McDougal was acknowledged for his management of the school districts athletic fields, including Memorial Stadium. Superintedent Jamie Cain says the fields and sports areas at area schools is massive, and it’s because of McDougals hard work that they are in immaculate condition. Board member Hayley Alderman was also recognized by the board for achieving an Award of Merit from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
