Over two-thousand 8th graders from local schools will be participating in this year’s Decision Day and Career Expo in May and June. The 4-day event is design to get kids thinking about their future careers earlier. The program is part of St. Clair County RESA’s Design 4 The Future, says Thelma Castillo with the Blue Water Chamber of Commerce, to ensure that every student has a plan for the future when they leave high school. It’s important to know what you want to be when you grow up, and the earlier a child can figure out what path they want to take the earlier they can build essential skills for their future career. She says that internships are more important than ever theses days. If children aren’t aware of the opportunities that are out there, they are limited in their decision making. They are still looking for businesses to take part in the expo, says Castillo. If your business wants to be involved in the Career Expo, give the chamber a call at: 810-985-7101.
