Matt Boyd faced five batters and couldn’t get anyone out in the first inning, as the Tigers fell behind Kansas City 4-0 on Sunday and played catch up for all nine innings.  The Royals, who led 7-0 at one point, held off the Tigers 12-9 in a wild game at Comerica Park.  Victor Martinez hit a grad slam, and Justin Upton added a solo home run, while Cameron Maybin picked up four hits and scored four runs.  The teams combined for 36 hits, including six home runs.  Detroit is a game and a half out of a playoff spot with seven games left on the schedule.  The Tigers open a four game series with Cleveland on Monday night in Detroit.
