With all due respect to Freddy Kreuger, Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise is the stuff of nightmares. An unstoppable juggernaut who can’t be killed, just merely slowed down enough for time to pass between movies? BAMF is SCARY! He’s a horror icon for a reason, always imitated but never true duplicated, but that didn’t stop one Minnesota artist from trying!
Back in 2014, Curtis Lahr created an incredibly lifelike statue in honor of the slasher and stuck it at the bottom of a lake in Crosby, MN. While not Crystal Lake, the old iron ore pit is still a pretty spooky place to install the lifesized tribute. 120 feet under the water, it’s a popular dive spot for SCUBA divers and it was only a matter of time before one came upon the Friday the 13th killer again. Complete with his trademark machete and hockey mask, Jason looks ready to begin a creative murder spree anew even after four years in the deep, dark lake. Of course, something like instantly went viral on social media once it was rediscovered.
