We’re only a month away from the Bells Beer Bayview Mackinac Yacht Race, with officials holding a press conference yesterday at the Port Huron Yacht Club to kick off the annual event. Chairman of this year’s Port Huron to Mackinac Race is Gary Shoemaker of Bayview Yacht Club, who says expect to see plenty of “big boats” in this year’s race. Shoemaker, speaking to WPHM yesterday, says this year’s race will mark the return of the DeVos Family’s boat Windquest. All in all, about 200 plus boats are registered for the race. Coinciding with the sailboat race is Blue Water Fest, which will begin on Wednesday July 11th and run through the weekend of the race. Some of the highlights of Blue Water fest include the Rotary International Parade on Wednesday, Family Night and fireworks on Thursday, and Boat Night Friday. Thursday and Friday night will also include ticketed country music concerts in downtown Port Huron – more info and tickets are available at http://www.wsaq.com/boats-and-boots-concert/
