A fisherman was rescued by fellow anglers last night in Port Huron after jumping into the St. Clair River and having difficulty swimming. Lieutenant Brian Kerrigan of the Port Huron Police Department says it happened around 10pm last night when police received a call from nearby fishermen who reported the man in the water near the city’s wastewater plant. Authorities say the man jumped into the river under his own volition but soon “realized the strength of the current,” according to Kerrigan. Nearby fisherman were able to throw a rope to the individual in the water and pulled him ashore. The man was not injured. The St. Clair County Sheriffs Department’s marine division assisted in the rescue attempt.
