The 2018 Bells Beer Bayview Mackinac Sail Boat Race is off to a slow start.  On Saturday it took six hours for the fleet of 194 yachts to get their individual class starts off the line, a process that is scheduled to be done in less than two and a half hours.  As of 7 AM Sunday morning the fleet on both courses is struggling its way up Lake Huron.  The Cove Island fleet is clustered between Goderich, Ontario and Point Clark, Ontario still below the Saginaw Bay.  At this time last year the bulk of the fleet had all ready made the turn at the Cove Islander marker.  The Shore fleet is also spuddering below Saginaw Bay between Port Sanilac and Harbor Beach.  A year ago some of these boats were as north as Alpena by this time of the race.
