The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to practice caution when picking up litter, as it could contain dangerous methamphetamine residue. According to Sheriff Tim Donnellon, dangerous household chemicals are often mixed in plastic beverage containers to manufacture meth, and are then discarded in ditches or yards. If you come across a suspicious looking bottle with a milky substance in the bottom, the Sheriff’s department says you should not pick it up and instead call local authorities who are specially trained to dispose of the items. The Sheriff says so far this year there have been no discoveries of disposed meth lab components, but that the public should still remain vigilant.
