It’s that time of year… road construction season. The Michigan Department of Transportation is announcing the start of several road projects throughout the Blue Water Area. Starting today, both M-29 and M-136 will see resurfacing work begin. About three miles of M-29 in St. Clair and East China Township is slated to be resurfaced, from approximately Reamer Road to Riverside Avenue. In Avoca, another three miles of M-136 will be resurfaced as well, from Kilgore Road to Kingsley Road. The combined projects will cost about 1-point-7 million dollars and they are expected to be completed in June. Meanwhile, MDOT will also be starting bridge work along I-94 in St. Clair County Today. About two million dollars in bridge work will take place along I-94 from the county line to Port Huron and will result in single lane closures both on the interstate and on over-passing roads. A total of 32 bridges will be repaired in the project which will last through September.
