Charges not being sought after student makes threat

The fifth grade student at Marysville’s Washington Elementary School who allegedly made a threat about a school shooting will not be facing charges. The student is believed to have made the comments during a choir concert earlier this week. According to Marysville Public Safety chief Tom Konik, the juvenile was interviewed by Marysville police and no charges will be sought at this time. The individual has been suspended from school indefinitely and disciplinary action is being handheld by Marysville Public Schools.

Marysville Police are investigating a threat of school violence that was made by a Washington Elementary School fifth grade student earlier this week. In a statement from district superintendent Shawn Wightman, the fifth grader made the comments during a choir concert Tuesday night. The comment was brought to the attention of Marysville Public Schools administrators and the student was removed from class yesterday. According to Wightman, the incident is currently under investigation and charges may be sought. Additionally, the student is not to return to school until the investigation is complete and that there is no current threat to the safety of students at Marysville Public Schools.
