An expansion plan for a local convenience store could be approved by Port Huron City Council tonight. During a regular session meeting this evening, council members will be asked to rezone a property in the 900 block of Oak Street from residential to commercial. That will pave the way for the demolition of three homes in the vicinity to make room for a new Party Express store and gas station. Tim Gotsinger, owner of Party Express, says the existing convenience store building would be torn down a well and replaced with a new building that will face 10th street to the west and will be equipped with with six gas pumps. The project got the OK from the Port Huron planning commission last week. City council will also be presented with an agreement from St. Clair County Community College which calls for one Port Huron police officer to become a resource officer for the college. Tonight’s city council meeting takes place at the municipal office center at 7pm.
