A local Boy Scout camp near Jeddo could be sold to the owners of a sand and gravel quarry operation, pending mineral tests on the property. According to officials from the Michigan Crossroads Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the council has entered into an agreement with Mid Michigan Materials for Silver Trails Scout Reservation in St. Clair County’s Grant Township. Council executive Don Shepard, speaking to WPHM this morning said, “The property is under a sales agreement… if there is gravel where they believe it is, we would indeed sell the property to them.” The nearly 300-acre camp, located along the Black River, has been used by scouts for over 70 years.
