Four suspects are in custody following a robbery at a Fort Gratiot Township Jewelry store. St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon tells WPHM the incident occurred around 7:30pm Tuesday at the Kay Jewelers inside the Birchwood Mall. Authorities say three men entered the store with hammers and proceeded to break open glass display cases and take the valuables inside. An additional suspect was waiting in a vehicle in the mall parking lot and the four fled the scene by car. Donnellon says authorities entered into a pursuit, with the suspect’s vehicle crashing and the four men fleeing on foot. The four suspects were taken into custody without incident and are being held at the St. Clair County Jail. They are described as three 17 year old men and one 19 year old man all from Detroit. Donnellon says deputies were assisted by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force, Michigan State Police, and the Port Huron Police Department.
