City government elections will be held today in Marysville, Memphis, Richmond, and Yale. Of those those four communities only two are seeing contested elections. In Memphis, two are running for the Mayor’s position in the city. Kurt Marter and Jennifer Parker are both seeking a two year term as mayor. There is also a contested city council election in Marysville. Mike Desing, Kathy Hayman, Paul Wessel, and Shawn Winston will be running for three open council seats. Jean Cramer, who ended her campaign after making a racist remark in August, will still appear on the ballot despite her withdrawing from the race. A millage renewal of 1-mill will be on the ballot in St. Clair. Funds raised from that millage go towards funding the city’s pension program. In Yale, voters will be asked whether or not to increase an existing police protection millage to a total 2.98 mills. Memphis voters will be asked whether or not to approve a 1-point-25 millage to maintain and improve city buildings. Two area school districts will also have issues on the ballot. Those include a bond proposal in the Richmond Community Schools district and and operating millage in the Anchor Bay district. Polls open at 7am and close at 8pm tonight.
