California developer Jeff Katofsky says his organization is putting the finishing touches on the St. Clair Inn and will soon be shifting their focus to the Hotel Harrington in Downtown Port Huron. Katofsky tells WPHM he still plans to redevelop the former Harrington Inn into a hotel, however hopes of having a portion of the Harrington ready to host events this spring will not come to fruition. “We want to get it all done at once and we want to get it right,” said Katofsky. The opening date for the Hotel  Harrington will be pushed back until the entire building is ready, perhaps sometime this summer.

In the meantime, Katofsky says he is on track to close on the Macabees building in downtown Port Huron in the coming weeks. He plans to renovate the building to house office space for his employees. Another pending purchase of Katofsky’s is the former Marysville Power Plant site in Marysville, which he says has been held up by environmental concerns. “It’s not that it’s dangerous, because it’s not,” said Katofsky, referencing the former power plant property. “It’s just that we have different rules.” Katofsky adds that his team is “rethinking” what can be done with the site located along the St. Clair River.
