Weekend sees COVID-19 increases at varying rates across region

The number of Coronavirus cases in St. Clair County increased  by a dozen over the weekend. As of Sunday afternoon, there are 274 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county. Ten new cases were added Saturday and two new cases were added Sunday. An additional death has been reported as well, bringing the county wide total now to 10 people who have died from COVID-19.  71 people are currently hospitalized, and 165 people have recovered in St. Clair County.

According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 32 people have tested positive for the virus in Sanilac County and three people have died from COVID-19. That’s in increase of six new positive tests since Friday, with the number of deaths unchanged. With 18 confirmed fatalities, Lapeer County has the largest number of deaths from the virus of any thumb area county. That’s an increase of five fatalities since Friday and 12 over the past week. 141 Lapeer County residents have tested positive for COVID-19.
