Tanker truck issue causes road closures near Blue Water Bridge

A suspected leak of a hazardous material in a semi truck attempting to cross the Blue Water Bridge caused some brief road closures Friday morning. Around 9am Friday, Port Huron Police and Fire crews were called to the Blue Water Bridge on reports of a truck that was leaking anhydrous ammonia. According to Lieutenant Brian Kerrigan  of the Port Huron Police Department, Pine Grove Avenue and the Blue Water Bridge were closed as a result. The truck was moved to a safe location with the help of the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.  Kerrigan described the ammonia leak as “rather minor” and the faulty valve was quickly repaired. Traffic on both the Blue Water Bridge and Pine Grove Avenue resumed shortly after 10am Friday.
