Two new deaths, 16 new COVID-19 cases reported in St. Clair County over the weekend

According to the St. Clair County Health Department, 350 residents who have now tested positive for the coronavirus. That as seven new cases were confirmed Saturday and six new cases were confirmed Sunday. Two new fatalities were reported over the weekend as well, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, bring the county-wide total to 20. The number of recoveries in the county ticked upwards over the weekend. 248 people, or about 70% of those who tested positive, are reported as recovered.

Nearly every corner of the county has a confirmed cases of COVID-19, with the exception of Greenwood Township and the Village of Emmet. The bulk of the county’s cases remain in the City of Port Huron. Additional cases were also reported over the weekend in the cities of Yale and Algonac and the Townships of Berlin, Clyde, Columbus, and China. About 55% of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 are females, with about 45% male. The majority of confirmed cases, 41%, are individuals between 50 and 69 years of age.

Across the region, one additional death was reported in both Sanilac and Lapeer Counties over the weekend. That brings the total number of fatalities to 4 and the number of positive cases holding steady over the weekend in Sanilac County at 34. In Lapeer County, there are now 24 deaths and 165 positive cases in the county. Statewide there are nearly 38,000 COVID-19 cases in Michigan with about 3300 deaths as of Sunday afternoon. The statewide number of deaths did slow substantially Sunday, with only 41 new fatalities reported.
