Gas prices continue to creep downward

Gas prices continue to drop as many are working from home and not driving as much. Prices dropped a nickle on average in Michigan in the past week to a statewide average of a dollar-42 a gallon, according to AAA Michigan. That’s 35 cents less than this time last month and a $1.49 less than this time last year. “An increase in demand may contribute to the slowing of pump price decreases in areas that see an uptick in gas sales, but prices will still be well below where they were a year ago,” said Adrienne Woodland of AAA. The highest prices are in Traverse City at a $1.70 a gallon and the lowest are in Flint and Grand Rapids at a $1.35 a gallon. Across the local area, pumps in Sanilac County are asking about $1.34 a gallon for regular unleaded. St. Clair County pumps slightly higher at $1.38.
