Michigan’s Secretary of State is urging people to return absentee ballots for the May 5th election as soon as possible. Jocelyn Benson says in order for the ballot to be counted, it has to be received by the local clerk’s office by 8pm on Election Day. Earlier this month, absentee ballot applications and postage-paid return envelopes were mailed to every voter in the jurisdictions still holding May 5th elections. Locally, elections will be held in the City of Port Huron and Fort Gratiot Township for a Blue Water Area Transit millage renewal. A millage renewal is also on the ballot in the Sandusky and Carsonville-Port Sanilac public school districts.  About 86,000 have already cast ballots.
