Local Congressman Paul Mitchell of Michigan has filed suit against Governor Gretchen Whitmer regarding her stay at home order. Mitchell says the Governor has gone too far by shutting down most of the state during the coronavirus pandemic. Mitchell who lives in Lapeer County and represents much of the thumb area has filed the suit in federal court in west Michigan. He tells WPHM he did so as a private citizen. Governor Whitmer extended her State of Emergenc last week without approval from the Legislature. Mitchell, speaking to WPHM this morning, says Whitmer is violating the state and federal constitution. Witmer contends that she is acting within the realm of Michigan’s multiple emergency power acts.
