Man arrested for setting off explosives inside a hospital

Port Huron Police are releasing the identity of a man accused of detonating explosive devices at an area hospital. 59 year old Michael Patrick Barna of Clyde Township was arraigned Sunday on two explosives charges. Barna is believed responsible for setting off three incendiary devices inside trash cans at McLaren Port Huron Hospital Wednesday afternoon. The explosives made a loud sound but were not responsible for any injuries or damage.

A Clyde Township man is expected to face multiple explosive charges after igniting three incendiary devices in trash cans at an area hospital. Port Huron Police were called to McLaren Hospital Wednesday on reports of a loud sound that frightened staff and patients in the hospital. Police discovered three minor explosives placed in trash cans and have sent samples to the Michigan State Police for identification. The 59 year old suspect was identified and was taken into custody. He’s currently housed in the St. Clair County jail pending arraignment.
