Thousands without power following high winds

Wind gusts yesterday in excess of 50 miles per hour are to blame for thousands of power outages across the Blue Water area. About 800 DTE customers are without electricity in St. Clair Township, another 700 are out of power in Fort Gratiot Township, and a couple thousand are in the dark in areas of north-west St. Clair County. DTE is also reporting several large areas of outages in Sanilac County, including about 400 customers in Worth Township, nearly 1000 near Port Sanilac, and about 1500 in and around Peck. Residents are urged to stay clear of any downed wires and report them to DTE.
