The man accused of shooting and killing an off duty Port Huron Police Officer has been found guilty. 30 year old Joshua Michael Bauman of Mount Morris was charged with shooting and killing 45 year old Lieutenant Joel Wood at a Clyde Township home during the early morning hours of August 24th, 2018. A jury found Bauman guilty Wednesday on charges of first degree murder, first degree home invasion, assault with intent to murder, and felony firearms. He is scheduled to be sentenced in May. In a statement to WPHM, Port Huron Police Assistant Chief Marcy Kuehn says, “Although this conviction will never bring Joel back, it will hopefully serve as some form of closure for family and friends,” adding that Wood is deeply missed by the Port Huron Police Department.
