Bridge work, paving projects get underway Monday

Expect to see a lot of orange construction barrels across the Blue Water Area starting Monday.

A $1.3 million dollar rehab project begins Monday on the M-136 bridge over the Black River near Avoca. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, traffic will be maintained with a temporary signal during and the bridge will be closed in each direction for a pair of weekends later next month. The project is expected to be completed in August.

A $750,000 resurfacing project will begin Monday on Lapeer Road between Wadhams and Allen Roads in Kimball Township. The St. Clair County Road Commission has contracted with Boddy Construction for the project which is expected to be completed June 21st. Lapeer Road west of Allen will be open to a single lane of eastbound traffic only through the duration of the project.

And a section of Plan Road will be closed in Cottreville Township between King and Marsh Roads for a culvert repair project starting Monday and lasting through May 11th.
