Casco Township man accused of staging home invasion

A Casco Township man is in custody for attempted murder following a staged home invasion last week. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department says Gregory Allen Ringell is accused of entering his own home in the 4000 block of Palms Road around 3am this past Tuesday. He is accused of shooting at his wife with a shotgun and making it look as if an intrusion took place. During investigations by the Sheriff’s department, Ringell admitted the at the home invasion was made up and it was him who entered the bedroom and shot at his wife. Sheriff’s deputies also say that he admitted to having an extramarital affair with an ex-coworker from out of state. Ringell was arrested and arraigned on charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, and false report of a felony among others. He is being held at the St. Clair County Jail on $750,000 bond.
