An 11 year old girl is dead and a 44 year old woman seriously injured after being struck by a car Saturday in Fort Gratiot Township. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of 24th Avenue and Carrigan Roads around 7pm Saturday on reports of a car verses pedestrian crash. A 51 year old Clyde Township woman is believed to have struck the two while traveling southbound on M-25. The 11 year old was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The 44 year old was taken to an area hospital and later transferred to an out-of-county hospital for treatment of traumatic injuries. Authorities say speed was not a factor in the crash and that chemical tests are pending on the driver of the car. Sheriff’s deputies add that the intersection was unlit and roadway conditions were wet the evening of the incident.
