Another road construction project could cause even more headaches for St. Clair County drivers. North Street is getting a new roundabout at the intersection of M-136 and North Road. Construction is set to begin on June fifth and will include the new traffic circle, street lights, and water drains. M-136 will stay open in both directions for now but North Road will close right away. In July, M-136 will also shut down until the road work is completed. Traffic will be detoured south on North River, then back up Vincent Road to circle around the intersection. The project is expected to be done in August and cost the Michigan Department of Transportation $1.2 million.
