Man arrested after crashing into jail, fleeing police

A 24-year-old Kimball Township man is in custody after leading local law enforcement on a high speed chase Thursday morning. According to officials, it began when the man, driving a small pick-up truck, rammed the employee gate at the St. Clair County jail on Michigan Road in Port Huron Township around 6:30am. No injuries were reported from that incident.

About 15 minutes later, the fleeing driver attempted a similar feat at the Port Huron Police Department. Port Huron Police began a pursuit north on M-25 and were later joined by Sheriff’s Deputies in Fort Gratiot Township. The chase continued on M-136 coming to an end near M-19 south of Yale. Stop Sticks were deployed by authorities and the suspect, a 24 year old Kimball township man, was taken into custody. The name of the suspect has not been released.
