Two police officers are recovering from gunshot wounds after a four hour standoff in a Sanilac County Village.  Around 10pm Tuesday night, officers were called to the 7100 block of Lester Street in Lexington on reports of a man who was screaming and shooting a gun. Upon arrival, the 38 year old man shot a round from a pistol and struck a Lexington Police officer in the arm. The suspect then barricaded himself in his home and the St. Clair County Special Response Team was called in to assist. After an attempt to enter the home, the suspect fired a pellet gun at a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy, striking him in the leg. Tear gas was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody around 2am Wednesday. He is currently  being lodged in the Sanilac County Jail. The two law enforcement officers  received only minor injuries and two patrol vehicles were damaged from the incident.
