St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King and Clerk Angie Waters will be keeping their jobs, however current board of commissioners chairman Jeff Bohm was not successful in last night’s primary election and there will be at least two new faces on the board of commissioners next year.
With all precincts reporting across the county, King fended off a challenge from Warren Head, earning nearly 56% of the vote. Waters will keep her seat with over 65% of the vote favoring her. Nearly 3700 people wrote in a name in the county drain commission race in which no candidate appeared on the ballot. Those results will need to be hand counted now by local election officials to determine the winner.
In the second county commission district, Kerry Ann Ange came out on top in a close GOP primary. Lisa Beedon comfortably wins her Democratic primary challenge in the third district. Joi Torrello will keep her seat in the 4th, fending off a republican challenge by former commissioner Duke Dunn. Jeff Bohm, longtime Republican commissioner, looses his seat to Robert Fielitz who was able to oust the current chairman. Dave Vandenbossche keeping his seat downriver in the 7th, fending off a primary challenge by fellow Republican Tiffany Turke.
