St. Clair County TEC students are celebrating a major accomplishment after bringing home 19 medals from the 2025 SkillsUSA Michigan State Leadership and Skills Conference, held April last weekend in Grand Rapids.

67 students from eight different TEC programs competed in this year’s event, which tests students’ skills in real-world, industry-aligned trades and technical careers. Of those participants, 19 earned medals in contests ranging from welding to cosmetology.

Two students earned gold and are now advancing to the national stage: Lucas Bauman of Memphis High School for CNC 5-Axis Milling Programming and Allie Stamplis of St. Clair High School for Welding Sculpture. They will represent Michigan at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta this June.
