Over a ton of marijuana was seized Thursday at the Blue Water Bridge. Customs and Border Protection officers in Port Huron found the pot inside a commercial vehicle that was carrying food items from Canada bound for Columbus, Ohio. The truck was referred to a secondary inspection and agents found 15 wooden crates inside containing packages of marijuana. Over 2,027 pounds of pot were seized from the truck. Port Director Michael Fox says all ports in Michigan have been experiencing a surge in contraband since COVID-19 travel restrictions were implemented in March 2020. Marijuana, although legal for adult use in both Ontario and Michigan, is still forbidden from being transported across the international border.
