St. Clair and Sanilac are among the counties participating in a voluntary statewide tornado drill on Wednesday as part of Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week.
At 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, the county’s outdoor sirens will be activated for a steady three minutes as a test of the warning network.
Outside of the tests, a steady three minute siren means a tornado warning has been issued for our area and residents should tune to local media for information and instructions.
Officials encourage families, businesses, and schools to use the drill to practice what to do in the event severe weather strikes.
Severe Weather Awareness Week runs through Saturday and officials say now is the time to make an emergency plan, build or refresh emergency kits with essentials, and make sure multiple alert methods are set up, including cell phone messaging and weather radios.
