A series of storage unit breaking and entering and a vehicle theft occurred last week in Sanilac County, and the Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in solving the crimes. On Friday January 22nd, deputies responded to Marlette Mini Storage in Marlette Township, after receiving a call about a vehicle found running in a fence. Deputies located the vehicle, a burgundy 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, running with the gear shift in drive. A piece of plastic had been placed between the seat and the accelerator, causing the vehicle to drive itself into the fence, where it became stuck. Deputies tracked the vehicle back to the storage facility where it was supposed to be stored. When deputies checked the storage units it was discovered that locks had been cut on five units and items were missing.
