Some of the Detroit Pistons came to Port Huron Thursday, not to play ball but to cook. Rookies Stanley Johnson and Darrun Hilliard joined two teams of students from Oakland Technical Center in a cooking competition at Baker College’s Culinary Institute of Michigan. Palace Executive Chef Lamar Nolden was the Judge for the competition. Alison Roscoe, Director of Partnership development with Palace Sports and Entertainment, tells us Thursdays event was part of Pistons Fit Week presented by Henry Ford Hospital. The goal of Pistons Fit week is to highlight the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle. NBA Fit Week is the league’s comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through programs, events, and products year-round. Chef Thomas Recinella, Program Director at the Culinary Institute of Michigan, says the event was great for the kids.
