The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments has announced their Switch MI Trip contest to encourage people to take a new way to work and help improve air quality. SEMCOG will be having their Switch Mi trip this week, and is a five day event that encourages drivers to switch from driving alone to sharing a ride to work. Participation includes both car and vanpooling, using public transportation, walking and biking, and making use of flextime and telecommute benefits. SEMCOG will award prizes to winning participants, with the first 300 people to sign up getting a free Starbucks coffee. To assure prize eligibility, commutes must be logged no later than 6 pm on February 16th, 2016. Current alternative commuters can participate by referring a friend to Switch MI Trip and by using Hash tag-Switch Mi Trip on twitter. To sign up or for more information go to www.mirideshare.org
