Michigan farmer wins big in corn contest

Alvin Ferguson of Berlin Township’s Allenton, was recently honored for being among the nation’s highest-producing farmers in the 2015 National Corn Growers Association, National Corn Yield Contest. In total, over 7,720 farmers across the country entered the contest. Ferguson captured a first place state award with an impressive yield of 286.2 bushels per acre using a DEKALB corn product. In the 2015 NCGA yield contest, DEKALB farmers captured eight of the 18 national awards and 153 first, second and third place awards at the state level.
