Volunteers will be heading out to Port Huron’s State Game Area this weekend for a spring cleaning. Patty Troy with The Friends of Beards Hills says the cleanup has been taking place for over 20 years. Volunteers are to meet this Saturday at 9am, at the DNR Field Office; located on Lapeer Road, a couple miles west of Wadhams. Usually they find tires and old car parts, but last year a couple volunteers discovered some meth lab components while cleaning. This year, the Sheriff’s Office will give volunteers some safety tips before heading out. Troy says, to make sure to bring work gloves, bug spray, trash bags and pickup trucks are always welcome. She also says to Wear bright colors as Turkey Hunting Season started on Monday.
