Local elections will find some lengthy ballots here in Michigan thanks in part to combining various contests into one big vote. Tuesday marked the filing deadline for most candidates for the August primary and by November, voters will have a ballot to select everything from Township Constable to the choice for President. Only a handful of contests locally marked in part by a race for Circuit Court Judge where incumbent Cynthia Lane will face Robert D. Crosby. Crosby is a resident of Port Huron along Conger. Two of the seven county commission districts also see contests, with Jeff Bohm facing Gary Eisen in the primary and newly appointed Harry Dunn is opposed by James Papineau in November. All other St. Clair County offices remain unopposed. For Michigan’s three local house districts all see contests with the term limited 32nd and 83rd having primary elections. More candidate deadlines approach later this year including Community College and School Board positions in July and Port Huron City Council and Mayor selections set for filing in August. The November elections also will find various township candidates ranging from constable to supervisor.
