Combining resources for promotional goals in downtown Port Huron is an item being looked at again by the Downtown Development Authority. City Manager James Freed says the idea has resurfaced in part because of recent changes with the MainStreet program. The Merger plans between MainStreet Port Huron and the local Chamber of Commerce and or the D.D.A. itself have been looked at by officials for along time. The item was discussed Tuesday morning during a regular Downtown Development Authority meeting. The session also saw approval of the authority’s budget for the next year with the biggest chunk of the funds earmarked for infrastructure improvements in the Glenwood, Michigan, and Beers street area. A facade improvement grant program was also expanded thanks to contributions made by the Gerry Krammer Spartan Foundation grant. It will be providing up to $25-thousand in improvement monies for the outside of downtown buildings.
