Justin Verlander out dueled Noah Syndergaard on Friday night, as the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Mets 4-3 in inter-league action at Comerica Park. Victor Martinez hit a two-run home run in a three run fourth inning for Detroit, while Verlander went six strong innings, striking out nine. Game two of a three game series is set for Saturday night in Detroit.
