The Detroit Red Wings needed to go to shootout on Wednesday night, but they ended a four game losing streak with a 2-1 win in Buffalo. Gus Nyquist scored in regulation and shootout for the Detroit, who also got a shootout goal from Thomas Vanek. Jimmy Howard got the win, and has never lost in regulation to the Sabres in his career. Detroit travels to New Jersey on Friday.
