Tigers Lose Odd Finish

The Detroit Tigers battled back from being down 5-1, to take a 7-5 lead in Tampa Bay on Wednesday, but on an odd play in the ninth, the Tigers lost 8-7 to the Rays.  Tampa trailed 7-6 going into their last at bat, facing Tigers’ closer Francisco Rodriguez.  After a walk, double, and intentional walk loaded the bases with no outs, Rodriguez appeared to wiggle out of the jam, with a strike out and double play ground ball.  However, short stop Jose Iglesias threw wild to first base, after taking a poor feed from Ian Kinsler at second base, and on the error two runs scored to end the game.  Nick Castellanos had two triples and drove in three runs, while Miguel Cabrera added three hits and two RBI, and Victor Martinez singled in the other two Detroit runs.  The Tigers have lost two in a row for the first time this season, and face the Rays on Thursday afternoon in the final game of the series.
