A new interactive play area has opened at Port Huron’s Palmer Park. It’s called “Sporut City” and a grand opening celebration was held yesterday. Sprout City was built to resemble a small town, where kids can ride bicycles between the different buildings and play areas. It was funded by grants from the National Recreation and Parks Association and the Walt Disney Company. Port Huron Recreation Director Nancy Winzer tells WPHM it is the first of it’s kind in the state. Sprout City also includes a large sandbox area and space for kids to plant their own fruits and vegetables.
