The federal government shutdown is affecting some national parks in Michigan. The Keweenaw National Historical Park in Calumet will be closed while the shutdown is in effect. There will be no National Park Service-provided services at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Munising. Sleeping Bear Dunes in Empire will remain open, but there will be no visitor services and snowshoe hikes and school trips are cancelled. Other federal workers, including those at the Transportation Service Agency and U.S. Border Patrol, are working, but without pay.
